Here at Von Quedish Shepherds, our animals are part of the family. For more than twenty five years I have been involved in many aspects of the German Shepherd world is doing confirmation, agility, obedience and now schutzhund. This has been an exciting journey that is not over yet. After loosing King, Lady, Risky, Chance and Sketch, I decided to take a break, because my heart was broken due to the early death of Sketch due to faulty dog food scare.
During the last few years, I have gotten married and had 2 of my own. Anthony and Michael are now the center of my life.

However, I need to add to my family a dog that I know can do everything I require, and that is the German Shepherd. And this time, I am not solely looking for a pretty dog, but I seek a dog that I can do schutzhund, obedience and confirmation with in and outside of the ring.
I want a companion that can protect my family and be beautiful. In my research both American and German GSDs have positive and negitive traits, but I have come to the conclusion that the pure beauty of the American German Shepherd, is not enough for me. So I have just ordered my first German-bred German Shepherd off of very nice bloodlines.

GERMAN
SHEPHERD DOGS
My interest in the German Shepherd Dog began in
childhood when my mother trained "Prince" in
obedience, showing me this was a breed that was not only
intelligent, but also wants to please. From that perspective,
I realized that the German Shepherd left the impression
of a noble, versatile, intelligent, intuitive animal that
there was never a moment's hesitation that this was THE
dog! The perfect companion, for any family. The German
Shepherds was developed first and foremost for its utility,
as a jack of all trades, yet the form that developed from
those functions is indeed one of the most appealing in
the dog world. We bred our first shepherd in 1990. We
bought our first foundation bitch from Sharobi Shepherd
Kennels who sold us my first show puppy at seven months
old. That puppy was BIG
Sharobi's Comiskey Park, CGC, later taking her Senior
Class Bitch at her Futurity in Washington State.

The
German Shepherd Dog is not a breed for everyone. They
have the innate energy levels of a natural working dog,
and since the average American no longer really needs
or expects a dog to chase sheep all day, it requires
a dedicated dog owner to provide the requisite amounts
of exercise and attention to keep a shepherd happy and
healthy. They are not for the weak-willed, as their
intelligence will soon have them ruling the household
if proper human authority isn't provided. Ideally they
should have a "job" to do, as this is when they are
most satisfied; even a family pet must have formal obedience
training to be a proper canine citizen.
At
Von Quedish Shepherds
Our puppies are tested using a Puppy Aptitude
Test when the pups are seven weeks old. This allows
us to make recommendations for the best matching of
the puppy's personality with the expectations of the
family or working situation into which the pup will
be going.
Our
adult dogs over two years of age have been certified
free of hip dysphasia by the Orthopedic Foundation for
Animals(OFA). |

Many are obedience titled and/or temperament certified, through
the American Kennel
Club(AKC) or the German
Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA), where we were signers
of the Breeders' Code of Ethics of the GSDCA, and we actively
compete in AKC obedience and conformation events. Of course,
the dogs speak for themselves, and we invite anyone who is seriously
interested in learning more to call for an appointment to visit. |
